Resumption date already named

In 1877 the law has already named 1 January 1879. Specie payments have not resumed. Bland–Allison is 1878.

The Specie Payment Resumption Act of 1875 named 1 January 1879. That date is still in the future. The Treasury is not yet treating United States Notes as gold at par.

Bland–Allison, the limited silver-purchase law, is 1878. It has not been passed. The statute that defines the dollar as 25.8 grains of gold is 1900.
