Six-partner note rule
No other English bank with more than six partners may issue notes. Country banks with fewer partners still can. Law’s bank is 1716.
From 1708 statute kept a second Bank of England from appearing. Private country issue stood. The joint-stock note field in England belonged to the bank chartered in 1694.
This is not Amsterdam’s giro, and it is not Paris. Law founds the Banque Générale in 1716. Notes there are payable in coin under stated rules. That bank is not this year.
