Gold Standard Act

The Gold Standard Act of 1900 defined the dollar in gold in statute: 25.8 grains, nine-tenths fine. Specie payments had already resumed on 1 January 1879. This Act was the legal label.

The country entered the twentieth century as a gold-standard country in law. The next American liquidity crisis, and the Federal Reserve, open with 1907.
